And Back Again To Weblog (LOL)

Tonight I pulled the trigger on semi-rebooting the revived blog, moving from Pika back to Weblog.LOL (where it was before it moved back to WordPress before I quit in March), but for the time being only the posts since I resume blogging are here while I finish up the Markdown files for the 1,200-post archive-to-date.

That import is some undetermined number of days out, since I’m manually going through adding the internal backlinks I’d had under WordPress as a custom function. For the foreseeable future, these backlinks will be hardcoded into the posts, and there already are hundreds of them so it’ll be a minute.

(Backlinks and search essentially are the only means of “discoverability” here, beyond aimlessly browsing, so despite the gargantuan task of manually adding them all, and then having to manually add new ones as they happen, it’s got to happen. I’m trying, bit by bit each day, but the fatigue is pretty heavy lately and I’m often finding I don’t have the cogntiive or attentional bandwidth for it.)

Meanwhile, this also likely means that your RSS subscriptions are wrong, again, as over the year it’s gone from WordPress’ /feed/ to Pika’s /posts_feed and now to Weblog.LOL’s /rss.xml. Apologies, but that’s the way it is. Maybe your RSS client is smart enough to look for changed locations, I don’t know. I don’t think mine does that.

In theory, when Neato happens, I’ll make that transition since Weblog.LOL effectively is frozen and intended to be replaced by that system, but my impression is that this is intended to be relatively smooth as such things go.

Later this month, regardless of what I post between now and then, expect a longish explanation of just how quitting in March became “just” a six-month hiatus, for those wondering what the hell happened, exactly.
