According to My Year in Books over on Goodreads, in 2019 I read more than 15,000 pages across 60 books. The 60 books I read in 2019 is 25 more than my Reading Challenge, which I’d once again set to 35 books, the same goal I’ve set for the past four years.

(Note: Not all of the books I read in 2019 were published in 2019. I ignore that fact when picking my recommendations, which are based on my reading not on publication.)

The shortest book I read in 2019 was Sing by Karin Tidbeck; the longest was The Human Swarm by Mark W. Moffett. The most popular-on-Goodreads book I read was Gods of Jade and Sparrow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, read by more than 13,000 other users; the least popular was Listen by Karin Tidbeck, read by only 140.

Of the books I read in 2019, the one rated the highest on Goodreads was How to Be an Anti-Racist by Ibram X. Kendi.

Unconvinced I can maintain the peculiar pace for 2019, I’ve set my Goodreads Reading Challenge goal for 2020 to 40 books.
